Adult Pastor

Gary joined the ministry team of Putnam in September 2006. Although he is an Ohio native he now calls Shelby his home. At the age of 16, Gary realized his need for Jesus and through faith accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. The Lord led him to Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Bible. The Lord called Gary into fulltime pastoral ministry in 1989. He and his wife Heidi have three children (five in all). Josh who married Nicole in May 2008; Jeff, who married Mandy in May 2008; and Jennifer who attends Wheaton College in Illinois. Gary’s passion as the Adult Pastor is to see relationships with Christ at such a level that relationships with others grow, and discipleship through “Connection Groups” becomes the heartbeat of Putnam Baptist Church. Through God’s Word we can learn to love God, “CONNECT” with others, and reach the world.

Heroes:
My Jesus –( to think He could hang on the cross and say Father forgive them), Chuck Swindoll,……along with my kids and their mother, my father-in-law, and several other family members.

Favorite Music:
Christian Radio and Jim Croce.

College Sports Team:
“THE” OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY—Go BUCKS!

Favorite Food:
Any kind of Pizza I can find a coupon for, low-fat ice-cream, with a large diet coke !!

Hobbies:
Reading in my favorite chair, playing softball and golf, hanging out with family and friends (usually to watch or play sports)…and talking on the phone!!

What makes you laugh?
My own jokes really crack me up — and wrestling with my boys ! (I can still take um) — all the way from Hawaii Josh !!
